Altice to sell Dominican Republic towers unit to Phoenix

Altice Europe has announced that its Altice Dominicana subsidiary reached an agreement to sell 100 percent of tower company Teletorres del Caribe to Phoenix Tower International, majority owned by Blackstone. The sale comprises 1,049 sites currently operated by Altice Dominicana, with Teletorres del Caribe valued at USD 170 million.

Under the terms of the deal, Altice Dominicana will enter into a 20-year master agreement with Teletorres del Caribe, with the latter committing to support Altice Dominicana in the continued deployment of its network. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter subject to de-merger and customary closing conditions, said Altice.

The news comes after Altice confirmed the merger of its Orange Dominicana and Tricom units in November last year. The parent company last month agreed to sell a 49.99 percent stake in its French tower business and a 75 percent stake in its Portuguese tower assets for a total cash consideration of EUR 2.5 billion.

Altice's Dominican Republic revenues down 14% to EUR 138 mln in Q2

Altice announced second-quarter revenues of EUR 138 million for its Altice Dominicana brand in the Dominican Republic, down 14.3 percent year on year on a reported basis, as continued growth in the fixed line sector was offset by decline in its prepaid mobile business. Adjusted EBITDA was down 17.5 percent year on year on a reported basis to EUR 77 million, with the EBITDA margin falling by 2.2 percentage points to 55.9 percent.

Altice Europe Q2 revenues fall 5%, EBITDA down 10%

Altice Europe said it's making progress on its turnaround plans, but reported a further fall in results for the second quarter. Revenues dropped 4.8 percent to EUR 3.48 billion, and adjusted EBITDA was down 10.3 percent to EUR 1.32 billion. The margin fell to 37.8 percent from 40.1 percent a year ago.

Digicel planning USD 500 mln asset sales - report

Dominican Republic suspends AWS spectrum tender

The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) has suspended a tender for a 30MHz block of spectrum in the 1700-2100MHz (AWS) band following a complaint from Servicios Ampliados de Telefonos (Satel). In a statement, Indotel said it decided to halt the process after Satel complained that it already owns the rights to operate those frequencies. Altice announced fourth-quarter revenues of EUR 145.9 million for its Altice Dominicana brand in the Dominican Republic, down 14.3 percent year on year on a reported basis and 2.6 percent on a constant currency basis compared to the EUR 170.2 million posted a year earlier. Phoenix acquires 215 more Caribbean towers sites from Digicel

US mobile infrastructure firm Phoenix Tower International (PTI) announced the acquisition of 215 mobile tower sites from Digicel Antilles Francaises Guyane. The transaction follows the company's announcement in April that it had secured a USD 120 million credit facility to fund acquisitions, resulting in moves for over 150 towers across Peru and Colombia. PTI is also present the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Panama and Puerto Rico, having previously acquired towers from Digicel in El Salvador.

Altice finalises Orange-Tricom merger in Dominican Republic

Altice has confirmed the completion of the merger of its Orange Dominicana and Tricom units after watchdog Indotel finally approved the transaction, subject to conditions. The authorisations, assets and liabilities of triple-play operator Tricom have now been absorbed by mobile operator Orange, with Altice having to hand back 30MHz of spectrum allocated to Tricom in the 1900MHz band and reduce the price of interconnection fees.
