Arm reports record shipments of 6.7 billion Arm-based chips in Q4 2020

UK chip designer Arm has reported record shipments of 6.7 billion Arm-based chips by its silicon partners in Q4 2020 (Arm's FY20 third quarter), equal to 842 chips shipped per second. Arm partners have now shipped over 180 million Arm-based chips to date. 

The Arm ecosystem is continuing to expand, with the company signing a record 175 new licences in the calendar year 2020, increasing the annual total of 1,910 licences and 530 licensees. Arm remains the leading architecture for IoT and embedded devices, with a record 4.4 billion chips based on Arm Cortex-M shipped in Q4 2020.

Arm expands products available under Flexible Access offer

Arm is expanding its 'Flexible Access' programme to more products. The pre-licensing model will include the new Cortex-M55 and Ethos-U55 products to support growth in the IoT market.
