Axione plans new wholesale full-fibre network in UK

French fibre network operator Axione has established a new subsidiary in the UK, called Axione Fibre, to deploy and operate a full-network in sub-urban and rural areas.

The wholesale network will be based on an open access network model. Axione Fibre will act as a wholesale-only operator, working with ISPs, operators, integrators and channel partners to provide ultrafast broadband services to customers. This GBP 300 million investment by Axione and equity partners will be the first stage of a large-scale project to connect 4 million premises across the UK.

Orange mulls acquisition of TDF – report

Orange is looking at ways to build up Totem, the spin-off of its mobile towers businesses in France and Spain, and is studying a possible acquisition of infrastructure operator TDF as part of this review, according to information gathered by Les Echos. The unnamed sources, who confirmed what was first disclosed by L'Express, said that TDF's owners are not engaged in a sale process, but Orange is considering the move as a way to expand Totem's towers footprint.

Altitude Infra in exclusive talks to acquire fibre assets owned by Covage – report

French fibre operator Altitude has entered into exclusive negotiations with Altice venture Xp Fibre for the acquisition of assets owned by Covage, reports Les Echos. Formerly known as SFR FTTH, Xp Fibre is in the process of finding a suitable buyer for Covage's fibre loop business assets across 30 different local network projects across France. This is part of the agreement reached with European regulators to receive approval for the acquisition of Covage.

Axione, Center Parcs renew collaboration to deploy passive optical LAN at new French holiday site

French operator Axione has secured a contract from holiday resort company Center Parcs to deploy a 41-km fibre network that will bring gigabit broadband services to the 'Landes de Gascogne' site, currently under construction in the department of Lot-et-Garonne. This follows a similar project delivered by Axione at Center Parcs' holiday resort 'Domaine du Bois aux Daims' in the Vienne department, announced in mid-2020.
