BT is planning to change redundancy terms for employees by introducing a limit on payments of up to 12 months of salary, reports The Independent.
The plans were outlined in an e-mail to its 106,000-strong workforce, seen by the newspaper. This represents a 50 percent reduction for thousands of employees currently entitled to up to 24 months redundancy pay. The Communication Workers Union (CWU) reacted angrily to the plans and threatened possible strike action. Staff have been given one month to respond, with the outcome of the consultation to be announced at start-December.
