China Mobile, China Unicom ask NYSE to review delisting decision

China Mobile has asked the New York Stock Exchange to review its decision to delist the company’s American depositary shares. China Mobile said the review will be dated at least 25 business days from the date the request was filed, in this case, on 20 January. The company noted that there was no assurance its review and stay requests will be successful. The Chinese operator reiterated again that it has complied with all applicable regulations and laws.

China Unicom and China Telecom have also sent in a similar request, Reuters and the Wall Street Journal reported, respectively.

China Mobile ends US reporting obligations

China Mobile intends to file a report with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), saying it is terminating its reporting obligations under the US Exchange Act for its deregistered American Depositary Shares. These obligations will be suspended with immediate effect, after the filing. China Telecom came out with a similar announcement in March.

The New York Stock Exchange has confirmed its decision to delist the depositary shares of operators China Unicom, China Telecom and China Mobile traded in the US. The companies were notified on 06 May.

The New York Stock Exchange has reversed its decision to delist the shares of China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom. The companies will continue to trade as usual on the stock exchange. The exchange said it updated its decision "in light of further consultation with relevant regulatory authorities," and that it will "continue to evaluate the applicability of Executive Order 13959" to these issuers and their continued listing status.
