Dish withdraws Clearwire tender offer
Dish Network has announced that it is withdrawing its tender offer to acquire Clearwire. While Clearwire's board had earlier endorsed a takeover bid from Dish Network, this was subsequently withdrawn after Sprint increased its offer for the wireless operator. Sprint already owns over half Clearwire's shares and has just agreed its own takeover by Japanese operator Softbank.

Sprint, SoftBank complete merger

Sprint and SoftBank have completed their merger. SoftBank invested around USD 21.6 billion in Sprint, consisting of USD 16.6 billion to be distributed to Sprint stockholders and USD 5 billion of new capital. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has voted unanimously to approve the proposed transactions by SoftBank, Sprint and Clearwire. Shareholders of US communications provider Sprint Nextel have voted to approve the merger with Japan's SoftBank.
