Disney launches Star+ streaming service in Latin America

Disney’s Star+ streaming service has officially launched in Latin America two months later than originally planned. In an interview with Argentinian daily La Nacion, Disney’s regional president Diego Lerner said Latin America is the only region in the world in which the platform is being made available as a standalone service as well as in combination with Disney+. 

He revealed that In Argentina, Star+ will cost ARS 880 (around USD 9) a month or ARS 8,800 (USD 90) a year. Alternatively, a ‘Combo+’ subscription to both Star+ and Disney+ will be priced at ARS 995 (USD 10) a month. Earlier this year, Disney said Star+ will include 66 new original productions created in and for Latin America at launch. More than 1,300 titles are currently available on the platform, rising to 2,000 by the end of the year.

It also includes a full slate of ESPN content, including live events from competitions such as NFL American football and NBA basketball, soccer matches from the Copa Conmebol Libertadores, the UEFA Champions League, Spain’s La Liga, Italy’s Serie A and the English Premier League as well as Grand Slam, ATP and WTA tennis, MotoGP and PGA Tour golf.
