Former O2 UK CEO Dunne becomes president of Verizon Wireless
Ronan Dunne, the former CEO of O2 UK, has been named executive vice president and group president of Verizon Wireless, effective in September. Dunne will report to John Stratton, executive vice president and president of Operations. Dunne was CEO of O2 UK for eight years and stepped down recently after the failed sale of the operator to Hutchison. He was also a member of the Executive Committee of parent Telefonica. At Verizon, he will be responsible for all aspects of Verizon Wireless' operations, including marketing operations, wireless operations, network operations, customer care and digital operations.

O2 UK announced further changes to its top management, after the appointment in June of Mark Evans as CEO. Evans will be replaced as CFO by strategy and transformation director Patricia Cobian. Ben Dowd, previously business director, takes the position of sales director. O2 UK launches new O2 Home smart home service

O2 UK has announced the launch of a new service called O2 Home to let users control their heating, lighting, locks and more from their phone. Available from 01 September in the London area, the smart home service is available in three customisable packages costing GBP 20-GBP 30 per month. It will be rolled out to the rest of the UK in the near future. Customers who sign up to the O2 Home between 01-14 September will be able to receive the first 12 months of O2 Home for free.

O2 UK confirmed plans to sell the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7. It will be available to pre-order from O2 on 16 August and on sale from 02 September. Former O2 UK CEO to take senior post at Verizon - report

Ronan Dunne, former CEO of O2 UK, is set to take a senior post with US telecoms company Verizon, reports The Times citing unnamed City sources. The move could be announced in the next few weeks and is likely to come with a steep pay increase for Dunne. Lowell McAdam, Verizon's executive chairman, earned USD 18.3 million in 2015, and outgoing Verizon Wireless head Daniel Mead earned USD 8.3 million. Telefonica has promoted O2 UK Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Mark Evans to replace Dunne as CEO.

Telefonica UK (O2) has confirmed that Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Mark Evans has been appointed as CEO to take over from Ronan Dunne on 01 August.
