Masmovil passes 1 mln fixed broadband customers

Spanish operator Masmovil announced that it's passed 1 million fixed broadband customers, after adding nearly 500,000 in the past year. The company said the fourth quarter was its sixth consecutive quarter of adding more than 100,000 new broadband customers. The group last reported 857,000 fixed customers at the end of September.

The milestone was driven by acquisitions as well as organic growth on third-party fibre networks. Masmovil said two-thirds of existing customers are on fibre and 83 percent of new sign-ups are for FTTH.

The company first launched fixed broadband services in April 2016 under the Masmovil brand, followed by the Yoigo and Pepephone brands in early 2017 and the Llamaya brand in October 2018. At the end of Q3, the company offered fibre broadband to 14.4 million homes passed.
