OnePlus confirms 17 Oct launch of 6T, with in-display fingerprint reader

OnePlus has released a marketing image with the date 17 October, suggesting it will announce the new OnePlus 6T smartphone that day. The image points to some of the expected features of the new phone, such as a size similar to a 19:9 screen aspect and what looks like a fingerprint scanner in the screen. The new phone will be the successor to the OnePlus 6 released in May and is expected to carry a similar price tag.

OnePlus confirmed to Cnet that an in-display fingerprint sensor is planned. The Screen Unlock feature is designed to give users another option in addition to facial recognition for unlocking the phone quickly. The company said it had hoped to introduce the feature on the OnePlus 5T, but the technology wasn't mature enough then.
