Oppo officially launches Find N folding phone with 7-inch screen

Oppo has officially unveiled its first foldable smartphone at its annual technology event a week after chief product officer Pete Lau confirmed the upcoming launch. The Find N features a 120Hz inner screen measuring 7.1 inches with an 8.4:9 aspect ratio that has no gap when closed, coupled with a 60Hz outer display measuring 5.5 inches with an aspect ratio of 2:1. Oppo said the screen is protected by a 0.03 mm layer of Flexion UTG (ultra-thin glass), compared to 0.6 mm for regular smartphone glass, allowing it to bend over 200,000 times with next to no crease.

The phone’s Flexion Hinge, meanwhile, features 136 components and folds the display in a “water drop” shape at the fold, making the crease “80 percent less noticeable”. It also serves to practically eliminate the gap between displays when folded, offering a more integrated look and better protecting the inner display from scratches, said the company.

In terms of specifications, the Oppo Find N is powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor with 8/12GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of storage. It comes with a total of five cameras, including the main 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor found on the OnePlus 9 Pro, plus a 16 MP ultra wide and a 13 MP 2x telephoto.

The phone is equipped with a 4,500 mAh battery and can be charged at 33W with a SuperVOOC cable and at 15W wirelessly with the AirVOOC charger. Also included are a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that is housed in the power button, as well as a dual speaker system with Dolby Atmos support.

The Oppo Find N will be available in China alone starting on 23 December at a price of CNY 7,699 (around EUR 1,070) for the 8GB/256GB version and CNY 8,999 (EUR 1,250) for the 12GB/512GB model.
