Samsung to offer extra customer service, onboarding for Galaxy Fold

Samsung announced it will offer additional customer service for the Galaxy Fold when it launches later this month. After the technical problems with the original launch in April, Samsung is offering customers a free, one-on-one 'onboarding' session to introduce them to the device, as well as a contact service for any questions or problems.

Samsung confirmed the Galaxy Fold will go on sale first in its home market South Korea from 06 September. Additional countries such as the US, France, Germany, Singapore and the UK will also get the Galaxy Fold this month, including a '5G-ready' option for non-standalone networks in select countries. Samsung announced a release date of 18 September for France and Germany, at a price of EUR 2,100.

The accompanying Galaxy Fold Premier Service will give customers direct access to Samsung experts who can provide tailored guidance and support over the phone any time, any day, the company said. This includes the optional onboarding session to walk users through the new features of the foldable smartphone and demonstrate how to navigate the device.

First unveiled at MWC in February, the Galaxy Fold features two screens and a total of six cameras. The 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Display can be folded lengthwise into a compact smartphone with a 4.6-inch cover display or used in its full width for viewing up to three apps at once. Samsung was forced to delay the launch and rework the device after initial preview devices encountered problems with the screen.
