SoftBank waiver allows Sprint negotiations with Dish

US mobile carrier Sprint has received a waiver from Japan's SoftBank to allow it provide non-public information about Sprint to pay TV company Dish Network, which made a USD 25.5 billion bid for Sprint in the middle of April. Sprint will be able to enter into negotiations and due diligence with Dish to determine whether it is a superior offer. The US company agreed to accept SoftBank's USD 20.1 billion takeover bid last October but has the right to terminate the deal if a superior offer emerges. Sprint said its board of directors had not changed its recommendation and continues to support the company's pending transaction with SoftBank. The board will continue to evaluate the Dish proposal and discuss the proposal with Dish and SoftBank, as appropriate.
