South Korea plans 5G service launch in 2020
South Korea aims to have 5G mobile services available in 2020. The Korean government will invest KRW 500 billion over the next seven years to develop the faster mobile technology, Yonhap reports. Testing is scheduled to take place nationwide in 2018 and commercial services will be available in 2020, according to the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning. The European Union recently announced it would support 5G research with EUR 700 million.
