Telenor Sweden has announced the activation of its 5G network in central Stockholm, marking the launch of nationwide roll-out using the new standard. The operator said the 5G network will provide internet access at 1 Gbps to customers with a compatible handset and a Telenor 5G-ready 30 GB, 75 GB or Unlimited subscription.
The 5G network covers large parts of the Swedish capital city, from Roslagstull to Skanstull and from Djurgarden to Kungsholmen. This marks the start of Telenor’s nationwide 5G development. Next summer, Telenor will have 5G networks up and running in Malmo and Gothenburg, followed by towns and cities with 50,000 or more inhabitants, as well as popular resorts. More than 99 percent of the Swedish population will have 5G reception by the time network construction is complete in 2023.
Telenor’s 5G-ready 30 GB subscription costs SEK 379 per month, the 75 GB one costs SEK 449 monthly and the Unlimited subscription costs SEK 569 per month, with no tie-in, and with unlimited talktime, texts and MMS within Sweden.
