Twitter signs 30-plus video deals with Disney, Viacom, NBC and others

Twitter has announced over 30 new or renewed video content deals with a series of companies including Disney, NBC, Viacom and others at its Digital Content Newfronts event in New York. The live and original programming agreements include a partnership with Disney to create live sports programming and other content for the social media platform. Specifically, Disney’s ESPN network will develop a Twitter version of its flagship “SportsCenter” TV show with breaking news and analysis and Twitter will also live stream ESPN’s “Fantasy Focus Live” podcast, among other initiatives yet to be revealed.

Other companies that will provide video for Twitter include BuzzFeed News, Hearst Magazines Digital Media, Live Nation, Will Packer Media and sports leagues including Major League Soccer, Major League Baseball and Formula 1. Twitter said daily video views on the site have nearly doubled in the past year, without providing specific figures, and video has contributed more than half of advertising revenue for two consecutive quarters
