Vodafone Germany introduces zero-rated data passes for chat, social, music apps

Vodafone is introducing its zero-rated social media passes in Germany. From 26 October, customers on a Red or Young plan can add a pass for unlimited data to use certain chat, social, music or video apps.

Already introduced in other Vodafone countries, the passes offer in Germany an answer to Deutsche Telekom's 'StreamOn' offer of zero-rated data for certain music or video services. The same as Telekom, Vodafone includes the passes in its more expensive plans, starting at EUR 34.99 for Red subscribers and EUR 22.99 for Young customers under 27. The first pass is included in the monthly subscription price, and additional passes are EUR 5 each, or EUR 10 for the video pass. Customers can change their pass on a monthly basis from January 2018.

The Chat Pass includes zero-rated data for Facebook Messenger, Telegram, Threema, Viber, Vodafone Message + and WhatsApp. The 
Social Pass covers Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter. The Music Pass includes Amazon Music Unlimited, Deezer, I Love Radio, Napster, Soundcloud and Tidal. The Video Pass covers Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Sky Go, Sky Ticket, Vevo and Vodafone GigaTV. Vodafone said other app or service providers can apply to be included in the passes, subject to its terms and conditions.

Vodafone Germany launches Data Boost Young promotion for Young tariffs

Vodafone Germany has launched its 'Data Boost Young' promotion, increasing the amount of data in its prepaid, 24-month Young tariffs for new customers under the age of 28, reported TelTarif.de. New customers who register for Vodafone's Young M, L or XL tariff options by 04 November will receive additional data. Customers will have 6 GB of data per month instead of 5 GB under the Young M tariff for EUR 19.99 per month for the first year of their tariff and EUR 27.99 after.

Vodafone Germany launches Red+ MultiSIM tariff with eSIM card for wearables

Vodafone Germany has launched a new tariff for accounts with multiple SIM cards, the Red+ MultiSIM tariff, that features an embedded SIM (eSIM) card designed for wearables. The additional eSIM card meets GSMA standards and uses the same mobile number and data volume as the main SIM card for a Vodafone Red or Young tariff and is thus suitable for smart watches, fitness arm bands or second devices like cars.

Vodafone Germany adds 15 new streaming partners to zero-rated Pass

Vodafone Germany has added a total of fifteen new streaming partners to its zero-rated Vodafone Pass, bringing the total number of streaming partners for the Vodafone Pass to 40, reported TelTarif.de. Among the new music streaming partners added to Vodafone's Music Pass are radio stations like Laut.FM, BigFM, Hit Radio FFH, Harmony.FM, ISN Radio and Wunschradio.

Deutsche Telekom adds ARD apps, media libraries as StreamOn partners

Deutsche Telekom has added German broadcaster ARD, including its audio and media libraries as well as the apps for ARD news services Das Erste and Tagesschau, as a partner for its zero-rated StreamOn option as of 01 May, reported TelTarif.de. Other new StreamOn partners include the radio stations Leipzig Beatzz, Radio Erzgebirge 2 and Radio Leipzig 2 and the video-streaming partner Deutsche Musikfernsehen, bringing the total number of StreamOn audio and video partners to 154 and 76, respectively.

Deutsche Telekom adds 15 new streaming partners to StreamOn

Deutsche Telekom has added 15 new partners to its zero-rated mobile data service StreamOn as of 01 April, bringing Telekom's total number of StreamOn partners to 148 audio-streaming services and 72 video-streaming services. StreamOn added seven audio- and eight video-streaming partners 01 April, including the audio services BookBeat, HarourTown Radio, Meinsportradio.de and Radio Neandertal and the video-streaming platforms N-TV, RTL.de, RTL Next, Sport.de, Vox.de and Wetter.de.

Vodafone Germany ends tariff disputes with ARD and ZDF with distribution agreement

Vodafone Germany said it has ended two separate legal disputes with German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF over the issue of feed-in tariffs and closed multi-annual distribution partnerships with both broadcasters. The new agreements enable the dissemination and use of content from ARD and ZDF and their media libraries on Vodafone's TV platforms, including its digital platform GigaTV, on an on-demand basis, said Vodafone.

Vodafone Germany has launched a new smartphone app called 'myTechie' to inform customers in real-time about the location and expected arrival time of their Vodafone cable technicians. Vodafone Germany service revenue growth improves in Q2 as customer base grows

Vodafone Germany reported service revenues up 1.6 percent in its fiscal second quarter, an improvement from 0.6 percent annual growth in the previous quarter.
