Vodafone UK drops home broadband line rental

Vodafone UK is abolishing line rental charges for all new and upgrading Vodafone Unlimited Fibre Broadband customers. In launching this new home broadband package structure, Vodafone said it is also making its broadband pricing clearer and simpler to understand.

As part of this new, transparent pricing structure, customers will still receive a home phone service – there is just no charge for the line rental. Vodafone has been active in the consumer broadband market since the launch of its Home Broadband and Phone services in June 2015.

The decision to drop line rental fees is in line with calls from the UK government and regulators for ISPs to make broadband pricing more transparent. Earlier this year the Advertising Standards Agency passed new rules requiring ISPs to include the cost of line rental in their headline prices. Previously it had always been quoted separately from internet access service.

Under the new pricing structure, Vodafone's fibre broadband service starts at GBP 22 per month for existing customers and GBP 25 for new customers for speeds up to 38 Mbps. The faster service at up to 76 Mbps costs GBP 28 per month for both new and existing customers. Customers also pay a one-off connection fee of GBP 49.
