Xiaomi Redmi unveils first flagship phones Redmi K20, K20 Pro

Xiaomi's brand Redmi said it has launched its first-ever flagship phones, the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. The devices boast a touch response of 70 milliseconds, NFC and Hi-Res Audio certification, with prices starting at CNY 1,999 and CNY 2,499 respectively.

Redmi also presented its first notebook, the RedmiBook 14, as well as an improved version of the Redmi 7A smartphone, priced from CNY 549, with the new Snapdragon 439 SoC and a more powerful battery. The announcements were made during a special launch event by Redmi GM Lu Weibing, who said that over 10 million Redmi Note 7 series devices have shipped worldwide since introduction.

The Redmi K20 Pro comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, a 6.39-inch full screen display, a 20MP pop-up front camera and a rear 48MP triple camera setup. The phone also features a custom 8-layered graphite cooling technology, which dissipates heat and keeps the device cool even under heavy loads. The Redmi K20 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730, enabled by the same Kryo 4 chip architecture used in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, along with the 4th generation AI smart engine.

Both premium phones feature the new Game Turbo 2.0 for an enhanced gaming experience. The system gives a touch response of up to 180 Hz, plus a better display, sound quality, network and in-game calls. The phones also use nano-holographic technology for their flamed texture on the four-sided curved glass back. The devices combine 3D glass and a narrow frame for a comfortable hand-feel. They also feature a 6.39-inch Amoled screen that supports Sunlight display 2.0, low-brightness color grayscale optimization, 256-scale eye protection technology, and low-blue-light eye protection certification by Germany’s VDE Testing and Certification Institute.

Both phones sport in-screen fingerprint technology, Sony cameras, a 4000mAh battery with 27W quick charge and multi-function NFC for faster payment transaction speeds. Mi Pay now covers transit cards in over 200 cities in China. It also supports other payment platforms such as JD and Meituan Quick Pay.
