Belgian court overturns Wallonia tax on mobile antennas

Belgium's Constitutional Court has overturned the tax on mobile antennas imposed by the Wallonia region. The court upheld an appeal from the operators Base, Proximus and Mobistar against the tax started in late 2013, De Tijd reports. The tax was as much as EUR 8,000 per site per year, in addition to fees levied by municipalities. The federal government joined the mobile operators' appeal, which questioned whether the region had the authority to impose such as tax. The court found that the region was impinging on the fiscal autonomy of  municipalities as well as the federal government's
