CNMC rejects call to suspend Telefonica, Yoigo network deal
The president of Spanish regulator CNMC, Jose Maria Marin Quemada, has announced that the network-sharing agreement between Telefonica and Yoigo will not be provisionally suspended, reports Europa Press. The CNMC has already initiated an investigation into the deal that could eventually lead to sanctions against the two operators, but rival companies Vodafone and Orange called on the regulator to provisionally suspend the agreement until the results of the investigation are published.

However, Marin explained that the CNMC has decided that the requested suspension is not appropriate since such a measure would not “improve or accelerate the investigation process”.

As a result, Movistar and Yoigo will not be required to change their plans until the regulator’s investigation has run its full course, which could take up to 18 months.
