Cyanogen announced a partnership to integrate popular Microsoft services in its Cyanogen mobile operating system. Under the partnership, Cyanogen will integrate and distribute Microsoft's consumer apps and services, including productivity, messaging, utilities and cloud-based services. As part of this collaboration, Microsoft will create native integrations on Cyanogen OS. The agreement covers Microsoft services such as Bing, Skype, OneDrive, OneNote, Outlook and Microsoft Office.
Earlier this year Microsoft was reported to be considering an investment in Cyanogen, which develops alternative versions of the Android OS. However, Cyanogen recently announced a large round of new financing that did not include the software giant as an investor. This is Microsoft's second major agreement in less than a month to offer its services on mobile devices not running its own Windows OS. In late March, it announced that Samsung would start integrating Microsoft services on its Android devices.
