The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) has presented the plans for a public tender of the 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz bands for mobile services. The regulator held a webinar with interested parties to present the terms of the 5G licences, and more than 100 participants joined the Zoom presentation.
The presentation outlined the terms for the tender and the technical and economic criteria to be used in awarding the licences. Indotel will offers licences for the 698-806 MHz and 3300-3460 MHz ranges. Successful bidders will be subject to limits on their total holdings and coverage obligations in areas not yet fully served with mobile broadband. The latter will be selected by Indotel.
The tender is expected to open in January and be completed by August 2021.
