Google completes US to Chile submarine cable link

Wednesday 24 April 2019 | 10:25 CET | News
Google has completed the 10,000-kilometre undersea cable linking the coast of California to the port of Valparaiso in Chile, according to a statement released by Chilean telecom regulator Subtel. The Curie subsea cable system is the first to land in Chile in almost 20 years and was built in partnership with TE SubCom. It runs from the Equinix LA4 International Business Exchange (IBX) data centre in El Segundo, California, to Las Torpederas beach in Valparaiso and includes a spur for a future extension to Panama.
