Oppo unveils 125W fast charging for smartphones, 65W wireless charging

Oppo has announced new advances in its fast charging technology for smartphones. These include the release of the 125W flash charge, the 65W AirVOOC wireless flash charge, the 50W mini SuperVOOC charger as well as the 110W mini flash charger.

At 125W charging, Oppo sets a new record for fast charging in the industry. The company claims the new system can charge a 4,000 mAh battery to 41 percent in 5 minutes and full charge in 20 minutes. An advanced encryption algorithm and strict temperature control regulators ensure safe and efficient use of the flash charging device, according to Oppo.

The 65W AirVOOC advances its wireless charging capabilities, promising a full charge in 30 minutes for a 4,000 mAh battery. It is compatible with the Qi standard for wireless charging.

The other two devices are designed to give customers a light, portable charger to take advantage of the fast speeds of its phones. The 50W SuperVOOC is just 1.05cm thick, the size of a business card holder, and can be kept in a shirt pocket for charging on the go. The 110W mini flash charger measures 35.76 cm3, similar to a normal 18W phone charger but with much faster speeds.

Oppo said the charging innovations are needed as 5G adoption grows and more high-power applications such as video and gaming are used on phones.
