Orange says German mobile merger nod would cause shake-up

Orange CEO Stephane Richard considers that an eventual regulatory approval of Telefonica's and KPN's proposal to merge their German assets would result in a shake-up of Europe's telecommunications industry, writes Bloomberg. Richard spoke in Paris on 09 September about the matter. Richard said such a move would force other countries to rethink their positions on consolidation. The acquisition of KPN's E-Plus by Telefonica Deutschland Holding, which sells services under the O2 brand, will be analysed by European competition watchdogs.
