Summary of international coronavirus-related telecoms and media news - week 16

We have seen similar trends in the past week 16 as in the period since mid-February. Telecom traffic and media consumption are up dramatically, but there isn't just good news for the TMT sector - far from it. Live events are scrapped, shops are closed, costs are on the rise and the advertising market is imploding. As a result, share prices are down and relief funds are created to provide for the livelihood of all those affected, especially in the realms of sports, arts and entertainment.

Still, some segments of the stock market are doing particularly well, including infrastructure shares in the telecom sector and VoD stocks in the media industry. Also, there is increasing talk of ending the global lockdown to restart the economy. The global stock markets in week 16 already reflected some optimism in this respect.

In this article we once more provide an overview of the most important events in the past week in telecoms and media.
