US consumers streaming 8 bln hours a month on connected TVs - study

US consumers are collectively spending nearly 8 billion hours a month consuming content on connected TV devices such as Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire, according to a new study from Nielsen. Although traditional linear TV still accounts for the majority of viewers' time, more than two-thirds of US homes now have devices that are capable of streaming video content, converting the living room into a true multi-platform environment, said the report.
