KT to launch subscription-based 5G game streaming service with Ubitus
South Korean operator KT has announced plans to launch a 5G game streaming service on a subscription basis. KT will offer the service in partnership with Taiwanese cloud gaming services provider Ubitus, Yonhap news agency reports. According to KT, its service will allow subscribers to play high-end PC and console video games stored on remote servers via 5G streaming, without downloading games on their mobile devices.

KT teamed up with Ubitus to set up a 5G game streaming platform. Ubitus currently provides the cloud platform which enables users to play Nintendo Switch games via streaming.

KT will offer its 5G game streaming service on a subscription basis. Customers will have unlimited access to 100 games, including Metro 2033 Redux and King of Fighters XIII. KT said its 5G game streaming service will be officially launched in March 2020, following a 2-month free trial period.

Earlier this year, market competitors LG Uplus and SK Telecom also announced partnerships with Nvidia and Microsoft, respectively, to launch game streaming services on the local market.
