Police raid Orange France over work-related suicides
French police have conducted raids at France Telecom-Orange headquarters and other sites in the Paris area as part of its probe into work-related suicides, reports Associated Press. Prosecutors opened the investigation in April 2010 after labour union SUD claimed harassment was to blame for a rash of staff suicides. France Telecom cut around 22,000 jobs in 2006-2008. A report by France's labor inspector's office found that the company's managerial techniques were directly linked to 14 cases of suicide, attempted suicide or depression. Les Echos writes that police also raided the homes of former group CEO Didier Lombard and deputy CEO Louis-Pierre Wenes.
