Vodafone Spain has announced another initiative tied to the country’s coronavirus lockdown, this time pledging to provide 30,000 SIMs to hospitals, care centres for the elderly and students without internet access. The aim is to ensure that many groups are at the potential risk of exclusion due to lack of connectivity, said the company, which has responded to calls from several of Spain’s Autonomous Communities, (Galicia, Asturias, Castilla-Leon, La Rioja, Valencia and Catalonia), municipalities, associations, foundations, care homes and individuals.
As a result, from 01 April it will begin distributing SIM cards with monthly 60GB plans for the duration of the crisis to enable hospitalised patients to connect with their loved ones and to enable children continue to access remote educational content in collaboration with the Red Cross and Save The Children.
