Italian antitrust and competition watchdog AGCM has fined the operator Wind Tre a total of EUR 4.25 million for misleading advertising of the mobile and fibre-optic services sold under the 3 brand. In a statement, the AGCM said it had decided to fine the operator for failing to clarify the extra fees payable once mobile data limits had been reached and for the unlimited data claims of its 'Free Unlimited Plus' plan, among others.
Promotional campaigns for 3’s fibre plans, meanwhile, didn’t provide information on the characteristics of the offer, the geographical limits of coverage, performance and the economic conditions of using the services, said the regulator. It added that in the absence of clear information, consumers were prevented from making a conscious decision on the acquisition of the fibre plans.
Last month the watchdog fined Telecom Italia (TIM) a total of EUR 4.8 million for lack of transparency regarding the costs and contract terms of its fibre-optic services.
