AT&T, Millicom eyeing Dominican Republic - Indotel

Both AT&T and Millicom could be interested in expanding their business to the Dominican Republic, reports business daily El Dinero, citing new Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) president Jose del Castillo Savinon. The executive said he discussed the possibility with executives from the two companies at last month’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), where AT&T committed to offering technical assistance to Dominican officials.

At the end of last year Vietnamese-owned mobile operator Bitel also reportedly expressed an interest in expanding its Latin American operations to the Dominican Republic by investing in areas that have so far been underserved by the country’s existing operators.
