The Union parliamentary group, which covers the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union (CSU), has approved a policy paper defining its position on 5G network roll-out in Germany, Heise Online reports. The MPs are in favour of maintaining high security standards for the 5G mobile network, but do not call for the exclusion of Huawei as an equipment supplier.
According to the paper, security requirements should be defined in a catalogue and federal authorities should be responsible for applying the rules. The use of components from an equipment supplier "can be prohibited" if it creates a conflict with security interests. Trustworthy suppliers are only those that fulfil the security catalogue and are not influenced by a foreign country, according to the paper.
