Vodafone names CEO of European tower business, removes RoW regional organisation

Vodafone Group has announced changes to its Executive Committee, with Vivek Badrinath appointed as CEO of the new European tower business. It will also simplify the group management structure with the removal of the Rest of the World (RoW) regional organisation.

The reorganisation will also see Vodacom Group CEO Shameel Joosub join the Vodafone Executive Committee. The new European tower company (TowerCo) will be legally separated into a new organisation and become operational by May 2020, with Badrinath's appointment as CEO effective from 01 April 2020. He is currently CEO of Vodafone's Rest of the World operations, which will be removed from the organisational structure of the group from the start of FY 2020/2021.

Vodafone underlying service revenue turns lower in Q1 as pandemic reduces roaming, business revenue

Vodafone's underlying service revenues turned lower again in its fiscal first quarter to June, with a drop of 1.3 percent in organic service revenue compared to growth of 1.6 percent in the previous quarter. The company blamed the drop on less roaming revenue and slower business activity due to the Covid-19 pandemic and said it still expects to meet its targets for full-year EBITDA and cash flow.

De aangepaste EBITDA steeg autonoom met 2,6 procent tot EUR 14,9 miljard, in lijn met de vooruitzichten, en Vodafone zegt dat het resultaat in het nieuwe jaar waarschijnlijk vlak tot licht lager zal zijn.

Vodafone maintains div on underlying FY growth, sees lower EBITDA in new year

Vodafone Group reported revenues for the year to March up 3.0 percent to EUR 45.0 billion, helped by its takeover of Liberty Global's cable assets and underlying service revenue growth of 0.8 percent to EUR 37.9 billion. Adjusted EBITDA rose 2.6 percent on an organic basis to EUR 14.9 billion, in line with its outlook, and Vodafone said the result is likely to be flat to slightly lower in the new year.

Safaricom names Bianco to replace Badrinath as alternate director

Kenyan operator Safaricom has appointed Francesco Bianco as alternate director to replace Vivek Badrinath, who resigned on 20 March after serving or over three years. Badrinath joined Vodafone and the executive committee in October 2016. He was responsible for operations in the Vodacom Group, India, Australia, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya and New Zealand.

Vodafone maintains outlook as Q3 service revenue growth improves to nearly 1%

Vodafone Group maintained its full-year outlook after reporting third-quarter results largely in line with the previous quarter. Group revenue for the three months to December rose 6.8 percent to EUR 11.75 billion, helped by the acquisition of Liberty Global's cable assets, and organic service revenue was up 0.8 percent. That compares to underlying growth of 0.7 percent in Q2 and a drop of 0.2 percent in Q1 service revenue.

Vodafone Group announced an agreement to sell all of of Vodafone Malta to Monaco Telecom. The cash purchase price gives the Maltese mobile operator an enterprise value of EUR 250 million, equal to 7.8x EBITDA for 2019.

Vodafone returns to service revenue growth in Q2, raises FY EBITDA forecast

Vodafone Group reported a small rise of 0.4 percent in revenues for its fiscal first half to September to EUR 21.94 billion, helped by its takeover of activities from Liberty Global from August. Adjusted EBITDA was up 2.7 percent to EUR 7.11 billion, while the net result was a loss of EUR 1.89 billion due to one-time charges in India.

TIM, Vodafone delay towers merger antitrust request to 30 November

Telecom Italia (TIM) announced that it has temporarily postponed the term to obtain the European Commission's assessment on the antitrust implications of the merger of Vodafone Towers into its own towers unit Inwit from 31 October to 30 November. It added that the "journey towards the merger of Vodafone Towers into Inwit continues" in spite of the delay.

Vodafone Italia sets up towers unit ahead of Inwit merger

Vodafone Italia has set up a subsidiary called 'Vodafone Towers srl' containing its portfolio of 10,977 sites throughout the country ahead of its merger with Telecom Italia's tower unit Inwit, according to documents seen by news agency Radiocor. The business unit, which has a net equity of EUR 221 million, has 64 employees and will eventually be merged into Inwit to create Italy's biggest tower company.

Inwit first-half revenues up 3.7% ahead of merger with Vodafone Towers

Telecom Italia's tower unit Infrastrutture Wireless Italiane (Inwit) reported revenues of EUR 195.9 million in the six months to 30 June, up 3.7 percent year on year, ahead of its merger with Vodafone Italia's towers subsidiary to create what will eventually become Italy's biggest tower company. Net profit for the period was down 1.3 percent to EUR 69.2 million, while comparable EBITDA was EUR 112.5 million, up 4.6 percent.
