Apple announces 14 Sept event, new iPhone expected

Apple announced it will hold an online event on 14 September to announce new products. The company is widely expected to present the next generation of iPhones, which are regularly released in the autumn before the year-end holiday shopping season. 

According to the latest reports, there will be again be four models of the new iPhone, the same as last year's iPhone 12. Changes will be largely incremental, including an improved processor, display and camera features.

Apple to add emergency satellite messaging to iPhone - report

Apple is planning to bring satellite capabilities to the iPhone, focusing initial on emergency messaging for areas without cellular coverage, Bloomberg reports citing people with knowledge of the situation. Speculation that the next iPhone will have satellite capabilities increased after TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the phone will probably work with spectrum owned by Globalstar.

Apple quarterly revenues up 36% with new sales records in all regions

Apple announced revenues of USD 81.4 billion for its fiscal third quarter to June, up 36 percent from a year earlier. While growth slowed from the 54 percent annual increase in sales in the previous quarter, Apple said it set new revenue records in all regions. The company's net profit nearly doubled, to USD 21.7 billion from USD 11.3 billion in the same period of 2020, and Apple maintained the quarterly dividend at 22 cents a share.

Apple raises initial production order for new iPhones by 20% - report

Apple has asked suppliers to build as many as 90 million next-generation iPhones this year, a sharp increase from its 2020 iPhone shipments, people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg. That's 20 percent more than its usual production run of 75 million units in recent launches.

Apple introduces four iPhone 12 models with 5G

Apple has unveiled its first 5G iPhones. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models go on pre-sale from 16 October in over 30 countries and will be in stores from 23 October.
