
According to the CBP, the policy gives Facebook the right to use photos and information from Facebook profiles for commercial purposes. Part of the policy also allows Facebook and its subsidiaries, including WhatsApp, Instagram and Oculus, to share user information with each other. Facebook also wants to be able to share users' location information with third parties.
The Dutch regulator wants to know more about the consequences will be for users in the Netherlands. It also wants to know how Facebook plans to obtain users' permission for using the personal data.
Earlier the Dutch regulator announced the threat of fines against Google for changes to its privacy policy in 2012, which are considered in violation with personal data protection law in the Netherlands. The CBP is basing its Facebook investigation in part of the EU court ruling earlier this year requiring Google to offer a 'right to be forgotten' on its search services.
