Telecom Italia CTO and strategy chief step down

Telecom Italia (TIM) announced that its technology and operations chief Nicola Grassi as well as its chief strategy, business development and transformation officer Carlo Nardello are both leaving the company. The departures come just a few days after TIM’s CEO Luigi Gubitosi and HR chief Luciano Sale stepped down following a takeover offer launched by US investment fund KKR.

In a statement, TIM said the chief technology and operations officer position previously held by Grassi is being merged into the new chief network, operations and wholesale office function assigned to Stefano Siragusa, who will also take on the role of deputy to the general manager, while a new strategy and business development function has been assigned on an interim basis to Claudio Ongaro.

In addition, the company has created the new positions of chief consumer, small and medium market office function, assigned ad interim to Pietro Labriola, chief enterprise market officer, assigned to Massimo Mancini, and brand strategy and commercial communication officer, assigned ad interim to Sandra Aitala.

The current chief executive of the group's TIM Brazil unit, Pietro Labriola, was named TIM general manager at the end of last month following Gubitosi’s resignation. However, a new CEO cannot be appointed until Gubitosi or another director vacates a board seat.
