Xiaomi brings Mi 11 smartphone to rest of world

Xiaomi has announced the launch of its new flagship smartphone, the Mi 11. After premiering in China in December, the new device will start sales this month, at EUR 749 for the standard model with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage and EUR 799 for 256 GB. Customers ordering early will receive a Mi Watch free with their purchase from selected channels, and Xiaomi also offers a free repair in the first year of its two-year guarantee.

This is the first smartphone to be powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 888 processor, based on the Arm Cortex-X1 core, the latest Qualcomm Adreno 660 GPU, the X60 5G modem and an upgraded AI engine. The Mi 11 features a 2K, 6.81-inch Amoled display with 120Hz refresh rate and in-display fingerprint sensor and the 20MP front camera in a punch hole in the screen. It sports a triple camera on the back, including a 108MP main sensor, 13MP ultra-wide angle camera and 5MP telemacro lens. Along with dual speakers with sound by Harman Kardon, the Mi11 comes with a 4,600 mAh battery with 55W wired flash charging and 50W wireless charging, as well as 10W reverse charging to power other devices.

The launch of Mi 11 also marks the start of Xiaomi’s collaboration with the mobile game Genshin Impact. Xiaomi said it will be working with the game producer MiHoYo to offer users a better and smoother gaming experience, with more details on the collaboration to be announced soon.

The new phone also is the first to get MIUI 12.5, an intermediate update of Xiaomi's user interface that is designed to optimise CPU usage and power consumption. Xiaomi said this brings improvements in screen gestures and the ability to uninstall or hide system apps. The update will roll-out from Q2 to the Mi 10T, 10T Pro, 10, 10 Pro and 11 and more devices later.
