Telstra's H1 profit grows 10%
Australian communications carrier Telstra has posted a half-year profit of AUD 1.7 billion, up by 9.7 percent year-on-year, and earnings per share rose 8.7 percent to AUD 0.137. Total income grew 4.1 percent to AUD 12.8 billion and EBITDA went up 7 percent to AUD 5.3 billion. Telstra confirmed it is on track to meet its full year guidance of low single digit income and EBITDA growth and announced an increased interim dividend of AUD 0.145 cents. 

Mobile revenues went up 6.4 percent to AUD 4.86 billion while fixed revenues fell 1.5 percent, dragged down by lower fixed voice revenues. The number retail fixed voice customers fell by 155,000 to 6.4 million but the retail fixed data base was up by 75,000 to 2.8 million. The domestic mobile retail customer base grew by 739,000 to 15.8 million with strong growth in prepaid. The total includes 4.1 million mobile devices on 4G including 2.9 million handsets and 1.2 million wireless devices. Data and IP revenues slipped 2.9 percent to AUD 1.50 billion.
