Tele2 absorbs Swedish broadband and TV brand Com Hem

Tele2 has announced that it is absorbing its Com Hem brand in Sweden following the merger of the two companies in November 2018. This will mean simpler and better service with more benefits, it added. Com Hem serves 1.7 million Swedish households.

Kjell Johnsen, president and CEO of Tele2, said that by having one premium brand instead of two, the operator can cut its number of internal systems and understand customers even better, leading to their greater satisfaction. Tele2 will be able to provide new combinations of connectivity and entertainment, and using the service will keep getting more simplified as the group becomes more efficient, it said.

Tele2 customers can now access nationwide mobile connectivity, upgraded broadband and video entertainment from one single point of sale with the website tele2.se. Customers subscribing to several services from Tele2 will receive rewards and benefits, and all Com Hem houses will be upgraded to Tele2 houses with more fibre and new technology, it said.

Samuel Skott, EVP and chief commercial officer at Tele2, said that together, "we will become unlimited" through its new combinations of service and advantages for multi-play customers. Skott said the group already has "hundreds of thousands" of customers benefitting from double mobile data and double broadband speeds because they use several services from its brands. With one webpage, one combined customer service and one retail chain, Tele2 will become more distinct, he added.

At the launch of the combined brand, the group said that new Tele2 customers can choose from unlimited mobile data, broadband or TV Gold for SEK 199 per month. Previous Tele2 customers can add broadband or pay-tv without any activation fee. Customers who combine their services with Tele2 can obtain benefits such as double mobile data, double broadband speed and extra data cards.

All broadband customers with a mobile subscription from Tele2 can receive the "Surf Guarantee", which adds 50 GB of data to their mobile subscription if their broadband goes down for any reason.

All Tele2 customers can now add "Trygg Surf" to their mobile subscription with three months' service free of charge, enabling them to filter content such as violence, gambling and pornography, for example to protect children online.
