A1, T-Mobile, 3 to invest in Burgenland coverage
The Austrian mobile networks A1, T-Mobile and 3 Austria signed a deal worth over EUR 31 million for the expansion of broadband internet in the Burgenland. By 2019, bandwidth of at least 100 Mbps will be available in the country's easternmost region. The sum will be made up of EUR 15 million from A1, EUR 9 million from T-Mobile and EUR 8 million from 3. The regional government announced it will support and coordinate the implementing measures but did not disclose how much money it would contribute.

The Austrian federal government has unveiled plans for subsidizing the roll-out of broadband networks to ensure a 100 percent coverage of 100 Mbps or higher by 2010. A1 Telekom Austria has announced that it will invest almost EUR 100 million in broadband expansion in Upper Austria. ZTE has provided support for the upgrade of T-Mobile Austria's fibre network from 10G to 100G. The Chinese company has used specifically developed 100G technologies such as Polarisation Multiplexed-Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (PM-QPSK)-Modulation, Coherent Detection und Soft-Decision (SD)FEC.
